We walk from Bukit Lawang to Tangkahan. The walk today will be about 6 hours of moderate walk passing through the riverbank and thick jungle. Our camp today called Jamur Batu Bawah. The campsite lies near Sungai Landak River, a river joining the great Bahorok River.

After the breakfast near the river, together with our team walk to Aras Pinang. We will be pasting some small ravines, small rivers, and riverbank while observing the animals the floral life. Normally, we can reach the campsite after 6 hours walk. The campsite today lies on Bahorok riverside.

Gunung Leuser National Park holds an important role for water cycle in both in Aceh and North Sumatra province. On North Sumatra side, there is Sungai Wampu, Bahorok River, Sungai Kerapu, and other small rivers originally come from Gunung Leuser. Today we move from Aras Pinang to Sungai Kerapu, around 6 hours walk. Sungai Kerapu is a bigger river than Sungai Landak. It joins Sungai Wampu, which flows to Medan and northern coast of Sumatra. We may swim, or walk, or even try our luck to fish in the river. Stay overnight at the temporary shelter on Sungai Kerapu riverside.

Breakfast at the campsite, today is the last moderate grade walk we have. We walk from Sungai Kerapu to Sungai Musam. The walk today is about 4 – 5 hours. Some of the trails we walk through today are close to the local peoples oil-palm plantation. Stay at the temporary camp built near Sungai Musam.

Last walk, last day to stay in the jungle. In the appropriate time, walk to Tangkahan. We will be walking under the shade of oil-palm plantation in about 4 – 5 hours. You have a great chance to see the local workers at work. There are also some local settlements. Around midday, we arrive at Tangkahan. Rest time after days in the jungle. Stay at Lodges Mega Inn – basic accommodation.

After spending extended time learning about the natural wonders of Sumatra, today we aim to learn and understand how the wildlife and local villages live side by side. We will enjoy an elephant ride (60 minutes) along and often through the river and see how valuable these gentle animals are in so many aspects of life in the jungle and around huge river systems. We will then enjoy a tubing trip down river and see the jungle from an entirely different aspect, the river. After walking for a few days it is nice to be pulled along in the gentle currents of the river. Rest time in the afternoon. Stay at Lodges Mega Inn – basic accommodation.
NOTE: There is no elephant ride every Monday and Thursday at Tangkahan.

Final drive for about 6 hours from Tangkahan to Medan airport. We will be passing through local village, oil-palm and rubber plantation. The road is quite bumpy. Upon arrival in Medan drop at the airport and fly to your next destination. End of trip in Sumatra.
