Mount Ijen and Mount Bromo in East Java are two very active volcanoes in East Java, Indonesia, 60 minutes flight from Bali. A multi-day tour to visit these epic volcanoes is an adventure not to be missed when traveling to Indonesia and you can reach by land or by air. The beauty of Ijen Crater has been recognized across the world. In March 2016, this magical lake has been included in UNESCO’s World Biosphere Reserves. When you arrived here after walking through a road surrounded by lush greeneries, a refreshing chill breeze will greet you right away. At dawn, you can have a chance to witness an incredible natural phenomenon where blue-tinted flames will appear around the crater. Known by many as the Blue Fire, this phenomenon usually occurs around 05:00 AM. Mount Bromo is located in the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park in East Java, a mountainous highland ranging between 1,000 to 3,676m above sea level.

Itinerary

DAY 01 : SURABAYA – KETAPANG – Ketapang Indah Hotel 2*/Deluxe Room

Arrival Surabaya Airport ( must be morning flight ) then direct transfer to Ketapang, on the way we will visit Pasuruan Old Harbour, Local Market. Break at Pasir Putih Beach for hand craft made from seashell, fishing boat and coral watching. Arrive in Ketapang and overnight stay at Hotel Ketapang Indah. Free at your own leisure.

DAY 02 : KETAPANG – IJEN – TOSARI- Bromo Terrace Hotel 3*/Deluxe Room (B)

Early wake up and breakfast, depart to Paltuding; ranger’s post on 4 WD jeep to the awesome beauty of Java’s wonder volcano; Mt. Ijen. Then walk up the Ijen plateau through the hilly landscape till to the crater edge. The reward of your effort is a breath taking morning view and during clear weather you may see the great sulfur lake. After enjoying the lake and the activities for the local sulphur mining at the lake shore, back down to the ranger’s post then drive on to Tosari. Arrive early evening in Bromo and check in to Bromo Terrace Hotel.

DAY 03 : BROMO – SURABAYA AIRPORT (B)

Morning call and coffee morning then drive to Mt. Pananjakan; a viewing point for sunrise. Afterwards drive down to Mt. Bromo crossing the sea of sand. From here will change with a local pony and ride to the foot of the Mt. Bromo. Then walk up to 246 steps straight up to the rim of the mountain and experience the great view on top. Back to your hotel for breakfast. Free at leisure until your time to transfer Surabaya Airport for your onward destination.
